New Design Furniture Fair in Rotterdam
Since 12 years Dutch magazine De Architect organises an interior architecture prize for designers and architects form Netherlands and Flanders.
Extremely serious judging over various phases including a guided visit to the finalist projects and a selected jury, made this prize well respected and also internationally renowned.
In 2012 the name has changed to ARC12, and MVDW has been asked to help changing this major evening event into a 3 days long show consisting in 3 main elements:
-ARC12EXPO a design and interior fair;
-ARC12TALK, conferences and lectures;
-ARC12AWARDS, the prizes will become 5 from architecture to design including a lifetime achievment award and the best chair award.
The awards and the talks take place in November 2012 while the launch of the Expo has been postponed to 2013.
MVDW has proposed a show design based on the utilization of 8.000 pallets, symbolising the logistical vocation of Rotterdam and the industrial heritage “loods” (= warehouse) choosen as venue.
The show will have a rather raw and rough character, which at the same time will be functional to highlight each of the various parts of ARC12 (awards, talks, party).
Together the pallets create a path through ARC12 providing ample individual spaces for some 40 brands to exhibit along the way, at the same defining a bar and a talks arena as well as providing exclusive spaces to exhibit the work of the finalists to the 5 prizes along the way.
